These works depict native Australian plants as Indigenous characters. When we look at plants we feel them, and some of us study them as well so there can often be an intellectual and an emotional connection with plants. For Indigenous peoples the relationship between these plants was special and sacred, it was a cultural one. Our people used these plants for a range of purposes, and still today our connection to these plants is ongoing. We survive and thrive on these native plants as we use them to manage the environment and landscapes.
