"A Certain Romance" from Ribal Hosn X Romance Was Born consists of nine total items across three original works, each a limited edition 1/3. It's a conceptualisation stemming from the thought of seeing things that aren’t really there. Utilising purely analog techniques without any special effects, each piece features a unique garment and its distorted reflection captured randomly on film. The process of capturing was extremely organic. Once set up, the performer was instructed to move and interact with the space and her reflection. The reflections were manually distorted by bending the mirror at certain moments and the mixture of colours would change based on the performer's movement and position. The collection pays tribute to the Rorschach test, traditional filmmaking, and to the malleability of our perception of reality.
