(AUS - MLB) Rel Pham is an designer, animator, illustrator and painter residing in Melbourne. His strong use of electric, vibrant colours and a penchant for surrealism leave a lasting impression with the zeal of a neon sign. Rel Pham’s work combines and contrasts old and new mythology. Whether through surreal portraits or paintings of monoliths, computers, and objects that look like alien still lifes. Each piece explores culture and tradition, juxtaposing old world fables and rituals with new stories and ideas.
His backlog of work features an array of solo and group exhibitions and public art projects. Recently Rel Pham was the winner of Muralogy 2017 - in which he created a large-scale mural in tandem with Concord Hospital. Additional projects and prizes include; Australian Stencil Art Prize Finalist 2011, Art Not Apart Festival, and an artist residency with BrandX/City of Sydney council. Rel has recently completed TEMPLE for the NGV's 'Melbourne Now' exhibition.
