(AUS - SYD) Ailie Banks is an illustrator, author, activist, and violence prevention worker based in The Blue Mountains NSW. Ailie’s artistic voice of advocacy is strong in her fiercely feminine illustrations and in her book "The Book of Bitch." Ailie's work reclaims language and symbolism often used to reduce the experience of female-identifying and non binary people.
Ailie’s passion for advocacy of the issues experienced by people whom the status quo overlooks and art directly intersect- evoking powerful images of rebellion, individuality, strength, and vulnerability. Ailie runs the youth Art Space at the BMWHRC and contributes to violence prevention projects. Ailie’s work both individually as an artist and in collaboration with companies and creators reflects her unwavering commitment to inclusivity, equality, and diversity.
